Maternal vitamin D insufficiency and adverse birth outcomes
A systematic review and meta-analysis elucidated the potential health impact of vitamin D insufficiency [serum 25(OH)D levels < 50 or 70 nmol/L] during pregnancy. It has been concluded that vitamin D insufficiency was associated with risk of preterm birth although further studies are needed to evaluate the benefits.
