Maternal gestational vitamin D supplementation and offspring bone health (MAVIDOS): a multicenter, double-blind randomized placebo-controlled trial

Investigators examined whether offspring born to mothers received vitamin D supplement during pregnancy has greater whole-body bone mineral content at birth than those of mothers without vitamin D supplementation.

We found that supplementation of supplementation of pregnany women with cholecalciferol 1000 IU/day from 14 weeks' gestation until delivery of the baby does not lead to increased offspring neonatal BMC overll.
