Vitamin D status among pregnancy women in Shanghai, China, was examined at 16 weeks of gestation. Vitamin D deficiency was reported in 32.58% women (7,526 out of 23,100) whereas 33.11% (7,649 out of 23,100) had vitamin D inadequacy. Vitamin D deficiency was associated with various factors including age, milk consumption, use of vitamin D supplement, education level, etc. Vitamin D deficiency was also closely related to undesirable maternal and infant outcomes.
