Gut microbiota modulation and its relationship with obesity

A review article discussing how the gut microbiota is associated with the energy homeostasis of the host and its potential role in the development of obesity. Possible therapeutic approaches including prebiotics and probiotics to create a positive gut environment were also explored.
Dysbiosis in gut microbiota causes disequilibrium in energy homeostasis that ultimately leads to obesity. Numerous mechanisms have been reported by which gut microbiota induces obesity in experimental models.
