Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) have the potentials to impact infant health via numerous mechanisms. This article discusses the commercial use of HMOs in infant formula, future directions, and latest research on the application of HMOs as a therapy for disease management including viral infection and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
