Misconceptions on lactose intolerance and cow’s milk allergy

This review paper provided an overview of the physiology, clinical presentation, differential diagnosis and treatment of lactose intolerance, while also addressing misconceptions such as whether infants with cow’s milk allergy can tolerate dietary lactose.

The majority of infants with cow's milk allergy can tolerate lactose, except when an enteropathy with secondary lactase deficiency is present.
