Recommendation statement on folic acid supplementation
The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) reaffirms its recommendation on folic acid supplementation. All women who are planning to get pregnant or capable of pregnancy are advised to take a daily supplement with 0.4 to 0.8 mg of folic acid.
The USPSTF recommends that all women who are planning or capable of pregnancy take a daily supplement containing 0.4 to 0.8 mg (400-800 µg) of folic acid.
