[Literature Library] A review of the current evidence on nutritional and bioactive solutions for preterm birth risk reduction

This review provided a comprehensive overview of the existing evidence in nutritional and bioactive solutions for reducing the risk of preterm birth (PTB) (<37 weeks of gestation). Among nutrient-based interventions, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) appeared to be the most promising to reduce the risk of early PTB (<34 weeks of gestation). Other nutrients, including zinc and vitamin D, may help reduce the risk of PTB. Wherea, no conclusion can be drawn for the efficacy of vitamin A, calcium, iron, folic acid, iron and probiotics etc., based on the current data.
