Brain iron content and cognitive development in childhood

Iron is a critical metabolic cofactor for many key processes of brain development like myelination and neurotransmitter synthesis. This study estimated brain iron content in children aged 7 to 16 years and examine the relationship to cognitive functions. Higher brain iron content was correlated with both faster processing speed and higher general intelligence.

Oral immunotherapy using partially hydrolyzed formula for cow’s milk protein allergy (NEW!)

This randomized controlled trial found that oral immunotherapy with hydrolyzed cow’s milk protein-based formula (pHF) may safely enhance tolerance to cow’s milk in children with cow’s milk allergy (CMPA), suggesting it may be a potential therapeutic strategy for this group.
