The association between gut microbiota in early life and future body mass index (NEW!)

This prospective study found an association between early-life gut microbiota and body mass index (BMI) z-scores at age 12 in a Norwegian cohort, suggesting infant gut microbiota may have the potential to help identify children at risk of obesity later in life.

Infants are exposed to human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) already in utero (NEW!)

This is the first study to find that human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) is present in amniotic fluid and that the fetus is exposed to HMOs in utero already.
